As a caregiver, one thing I know for sure is that when I reflect on the things I am grateful for, my life seems to go better and I am happier. Some days it may simply be an authentic smile and “Have a nice day” from a cashier that reminds you that Life Is Good. As you start paying attention, notice the things that go well; look for the smile of appreciation from your loved one; catch sight of a bird playing in the tree; indulge in the aroma as you pass the bakery; tap into your heart and feel the presence of love.
Try making a daily practice of it: Keep a notebook by your bedside where each evening you can write five things you were grateful for that day—and try not to repeat! Before you know it, you will feel truly blessed with all the good in your life.
